The General Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA) is the highest body and Laboratory of Appeals in all matters relating to forensic science and genetic services, product quality and chemical management because of its Authority Act.

Duties and Key Accountabilities

The Laboratory Technologist and Technician positions will be held accountable for the following during their employment under the General Government Chemist Laboratory Authority (GCLA):

1. Register all received samples on the computerized system, controlled log books, bench sheets etc
2. Document and receive samples for analysis
3. Prepare laboratory media and reagents 
4. Dispose laboratory waste as directed
5. Prepare sampling containers and equipment

While the Laboratory Assistant will be held responsible for the following:

1. Collect and preserve varied samples for analysis from specific locations according to a predetermined schedule
2. Assist in collection of samples as conditions indicate
3. Prepare samples for laboratory testing
4. Assist in preparation of chemicals, bacteriological media, stains and standard test solutions

Requirements for GCLA Recruitment 2024

The requirements needed for GCLA Recruitment 2024 are as follows:

Laboratory Technologist

1. Candidate must be a holder of Bachelor Degree in either Laboratory Science and Technology, Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution

Laboratory Technician

1. Candidates must be holders of Diploma in either Laboratory Science and Technology, Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution

Laboratory Assistant

1. Candidates must be holders of Certificate in one of the following fields: Laboratory Science and Technology, Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution
